Where to Buy Flip Flops for less than a Toonie

Posted on January 9, 2017 Leave a Comment

Who can forget the days of playing Tumbang Preso? I remember getting the slippers at home so I have more chance to hit the can.

But my favourite slippers/flip flops is the ever durable Rambo. Well time has changed. We all have to outgrow the traditional Filipino children’s game.

But one thing doesn’t change: I will always wear flip flops even with socks all year round, only inside the house and while gardening in summer.

I will let you in to a secret where I love to buy flip flops every year.

Two Agendas in One Trip

Wherever you are in Canada, I’m sure you can find a branch of Real Canadian Superstore. My trick is to visit Joe Fresh whenever I shop for grocery.

The best time to buy flip flop for $1.94 CAD is right after summer when summer clothes and accessories are on sale.

Wait till the last week of sale. You’ll notice that there are stickers of varying prices on the price tag so you have to be patient to get the best deal. I prefer to wait for the lowest price because I usually buy five pairs for myself and some to send home through the balikbayan box.

My family doesn’t have to buy expensive flip flops. I used to buy flip flop in Tutuban Mall for Php 100.00 and that amount means a lot to me. I never buy expensive brand.

To have an idea of how much does it cost to buy flip flops in the Philippines, I browsed on Lazada.com.ph (affiliate link). I spotted familiar brands like Bench and Penshoppe.

Nothing beats the price of Joe Fresh flip flop even if I use two pairs per year. It’s either I’m getting better at hunting for great deals or the price of goods in the Philippines keeps on rising.

Lastly, I should also mention that I was able to buy a fleece hoodie for less than $5.00 CAD and recently, I spent $10.00 CAD for a bomber jacket.

Nobody says it’s for kids only!

That’s the advantage of having patience to wait and scour the racks of clothes even in the kid section. I’ll shop wherever I can find clothes that fit well . . . with the discounted price, of course.

Your turn. Do you know any other places where flip flops are on sale? What is your favourite flip flop?
