I've applied for this card solely for the purpose of replacing my CAA membership. Although Home Trust offers 5km towing and CAA Basic offers 10km (CAA Plus is 200km), which isn't really that big of a difference. I called Home Trust to confirm, and was told that extra mileage would cost about $3/km. All other roadside services are identical, aside from Home Trust being free and CAA Basic costing ~$70/year (CAA Plus ~$120). I've had CAA for almost 15yrs, and have never called for help. I wished this card came out sooner so I could have saved on all those years. And the 1% cash back with no annual fee on everything is nice.

This post is updated just like the other posts whenever necessary. The application for Home Trust Preferred Visa card is by far the most challenging; I've had seven credit cards (currently have three). I prefer changing home address online instead of calling and being put on hold. So far I had no issue in using Home Trust Preferred Visa locally and internationally so all the time spent in getting it is worthwhile.

I wonder what was the reason to say "Not what I expected". The listed cons are:
1) No online change of address (c'mon, how many times a year do we change home address?),
2) No sign-up bonus (seriously? this is a once in a lifetime perk and the amounts are not impressive),
3) No app (not sure how important this is - online purchases are perfectly doable from smartphone without credit card app),
4) No tapping. Perhaps the only (more-less) serious con here.

I also wonder how old is this article - it says UPDATED in June 2019. PIN change had been available for several months before, and long waiting times are no longer an issue. I received my card in less than 3 weeks after applying, and the only additional document they requested was my photo ID.

For those eager to dump CAA in favor of free road assist - think twice. Same as other credit cards with no annual fee, HT Visa offers mere 5km towing, while CAA Plus offers 160km.

Thanks for the article, esp how to change PIN.

Saturday night their website said "not found" (I wondered if they went out of business!!), so I called and after they let me be on hold 10 min until an agent said there was technical difficulties so could not tell me my balance and to call back tomorrow. I then called the number above to change my PIN, and was on hold for over 10 min so I hung up and called the 24 hour number and he picked up fast but said due to regularly scheduled maintenance, system is unavailable until MONDAY morning.

This is very unprofessional; I'm scared what will happen if I need roadside assistance. I wonder how long you wait for service!

I too found in USA, card was declined at some places (eg DollarTree).

What is the latest ETA on this card? They say on their website that "Should your application be approved, you will be notified by email within 2-4 weeks". But I haven't received any communication from them yet.
