Not Again: Car Key is Stuck in the Ignition

Posted on October 12, 2016 Leave a Comment

I am not a big spender.

I don’t like spending a lot for unnecessary things, well, except for a dream house where I can retire and do gardening (and read the newspaper cover to cover except the sports and classified ads).

So when it was time to buy a car, I wasn’t ecstatic . . . at all.

But I have to. I can’t rely on the public transportation and the weather to be so kind for a commuter like me.

Reluctantly, I bought a used car in Kijiji. Technically, my friend chose it for me and within a few hours, I was about to meet my first used car. (I don’t plan to buy a new car. Ever.)

I can still remember the first time I met my car. (The colour. The dent. It’s the one. Ha ha.)

I had the biggest discount I can ever have . . . so far.

Then came the excess baggage. Or should I say headache.

The car key is stuck in the ignition of my Honda Civic.

What model? I was still memorizing the Periodic Table of Elements in Chemistry class when my future-to-be car was already cruising the Canadian road.

Life happens. From worrying whether something will explode in the lab to hating the hundreds of elements that keeps on adding up, I am now dealing with a real life drama.

A reality drama that often makes me want to cry. Or scream.

As people say: you get what you pay for.

But I’m not losing hope. Not in this era on which videos are going viral, available 24/7 if Wind Mobile got my Wifi covered.

What to Do if Your Car Key is Stuck in the Ignition

Don’t we all love YouTube.

I found several videos that will help you to get that car key out of the ignition faster than your anger boiling up.

This is what works for me . . . most of the time.

Moving the shifter from park all the way down to D2 then back to park.

That’s it. Simple and easy.

If that didn’t work, watch the following videos to find the right trick for your car.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cOWjO3nYLFw

This first video is simple that you might want to try first.

https://youtu.be/sC_PCDTYTPg

The second video shows three tricks on what to do if your car key is stuck in the ignition.

Tip: before you try any of the tricks, try to remain calm even though you are in a hurry.

Our mantra: keep calm. And keep on trying.

In reality, though, I’m losing my patience in the third or fourth try.

What Now?

There’s nothing wrong with it except that the car key is occasionally get stuck in the ignition especially when it’s cold.

Another reason why I hate winter.

For now, I’ll bear with my car’s disorder.

Suddenly, I miss commuting in a warm weather. I have nothing to worry except getting off the bus or jeepney at the exact destination with all of my belongings with me.

So that’s the love and hate relationship I have with my car.

Which tricks work on your car? Any tips on how and where to buy a used car? Share your thoughts in the comment.
